Michelle Contreras (Room 20) I have been teaching at Rosa Parks since 2003. I have taught TWI in kindergarten, first, and third here. Before coming to BUSD, I worked in Oakland for two years teaching fifth grade and kindergarten. I received my teaching credential from Cal State East Bay and my BA from Humboldt State, where I majored in English and Spanish. Before I taught in public schools, I lived in Oaxaca, Mexico for a year, and I worked for four years in several developing countries leading high school and college students and working with host communities (in Costa Rica, Ecuador, Thailand, and Ecuador.) I also taught outdoor education in the Santa Cruz mountains for two years.

I feel honored to be a part of the Rosa Parks community. I learn each day from students, parents, and teachers alike. It’s so exciting to be a part of a community thriving together! What great things will we all accomplish next?!
