The Rosa Parks Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is a volunteer group of parents and teachers whose purpose is to support the school and the students through a variety of activities. About the PTA
The Rosa Parks PTA would like to welcome you to Rosa Parks School . We are a private, non-profit organization of parents, teachers, students, and community members who are concerned with the education, health, and welfare of children. We are associated with the Berkeley PTA, California state PTA and the national PTA.
The mission of the PTA is :
• to support and speak on behalf of children and youth in the schools, in the community, and before governmental bodies and other organizations that make decisions affecting children;
• to assist parents in developing the skills they need to raise and protect their children;
• to encourage parental and public involvement in the public schools.
Last year, the Rosa Parks PTA helped plan, organize & fundraise for family nights, including parent education workshops. We sponsored the Winter Fair, the book fair, and the Ice Cream Social. The PTA also provided grants to teachers for classroom materials and trips, scholarships for students, after-school classes, a school directory, newsletters, and financial assistance for many other programs.
In addition, the PTA goals for this year are:
• to strengthen the home/school/PTA relationship through increased communication and education;
• to welcome participation of all families;
• to provide some of the funding for KidsVillage Afterschool Program and for the Playground Activities Coordinator .
Please join the PTA and be a valuable resource for our children. Dues are $10.00 per person and are voluntary. The dues go to Rosa Parks PTA, Berkeley PTA Council, and State and National PTA for services and resources. The PTA needs volunteers to help organize and participate in the many events and programs we sponsor for the Rosa Parks Community. If you are looking for a way to become involved in this community, please come to a PTA meeting, or call 333-5491.

Sobre el PTA
El PTA de Rosa Parks desea darles la bienvenida a la escuela Rosa Parks. Nosotros somos una organización privada de padres, maestros, estudiantes y miembros de la comunidad. Estamos interesados en la educación y bienestar de los niños. Somos parte del PTA de Berkeley, el PTA Estatal y Nacional.
La misión del PTA es la siguiente:
• apoyar y hablar en nombre de los niños y jóvenes en las escuelas, en la comunidad, y en otras organizaciones que puedan afectar a los niños de acuerdo a las decisiones
• asistir a los padres en desarrollar las habilidades necesarias para educar y proteger a sus niños
• animar a los padres a participar en las escuelas públicas
El año pasado, el PTA de Rosa Parks participó en planear, organizar y pagar por noches familiares, incluyendo talleres educativos para los padres. Se patrocinó la feria del invierno, la feria de libros, y el evento Social de Helados. El PTA también provee becas para los estudiantes para clases después de escuela, el directorio escolar, boletines y financia otros programas.
Las metas del PTA para este año escolar son las siguientes:
• dar más asistencia entre el hogar/ escuela y el PTA por medio de mejor comunicación y educación
• aumentar la participación de todas las familias
•proveer una parte de los fondos para KidsVillage Afterschool Program y para el Coordinador de Actividades del Patio.
Por favor sea parte del PTA y será un valioso recurso para los niños. La cuota es de $10.00 por persona. La cuota ayuda al PTA de Rosa Parks, PTA de Berkeley y al PTA Estatal y Nacional para servicios y recursos. El PTA se necesita muchos voluntarios para participar en todos los eventos y programas que patroneamos en la escuela.
