Rosa Parks is an Environmental Science Magnet school in the Berkeley Unified School District in Berkeley, California. Equipped with a science lab, educational garden, and dedicated, professional and talented faculty and staff, students at Rosa Parks benefit from a curriculum enriched with access to science and nature.

School-Wide Before/After School Enrichment


School-Wide Before School Enrichment is NOT a part of Kids’ Village. Refer to Rosa Parks Main Office for further details.

Before school classes include Mandarin, Spanish or chess


A wider variety of after school classes is available. Soccer, yoga, basketball, dance, art, cooking, engineering, Jiu-Jitsu & Coding are some of the classes your student can enroll in.

Classes begin on Monday, April 15th, 2019.


**Below is information for the Spring 2019 After School Classes **

All Registration Forms will be accepted until Wednesday, March 27th at 6pm. Please return all forms either to Alicia in the Main office or to Jessica in the Kids’ Village office. If necessary, we will hold a lottery on Friday, March 29th for any class that has more applicants than available spaces.

Please pay the $10 registration fee AND class fee(s) with your enrollment form. Please note that the registration fee is NOT a deposit and is separate from the class fee.

If your child is already enrolled in Kids’ Village on the day of the enrichment class, you will get a 20% discount on the class.

If your child is NOT in Kids’ Village but you need KV before classes that start more than 30 minutes after school gets out, there is an additional fee of $40/class. If your child is staying in Kids’ Village after their classes, after school fees will apply for the days needed.

Please make checks out to: LifeLong Medical / Rosa Parks and write in the memo “ENRICHMENT along with your child(s)’ name, or see Jessica Baird to pay by credit card.

Partial and full scholarships are available; just ask! If you would like to request a scholarship, please note on the registration form how much you can pay in the “We can pay” section. No one will be turned away for lack of funds.

If your student does not get into any class, we will refund the registration fee and any class fees. We cannot offer refunds for any other reason.


IF YOUR CHILD IS ALREADY IN KIDS’ VILLAGE, they will be picked up from their KV group and sent to their enrichment class. They will go back to KV after the class.

IF YOUR CHILD IS NOT IN KIDS’ VILLAGE AND YOU NEEDS KIDS’ VILLAGE, your child will be picked up after school and signed into Kids’ Village. They will participate in KV until they are picked up from their KV group and taken to their enrichment class. You must pick up your child from their enrichment class by the end of the class and sign your child out of KV (attendance sheets will be in the gym).

IF YOU DO NOT NEED KIDS’ VILLAGE, please bring your child directly to their enrichment class. You must pick up your child from their enrichment class by the end of the class.

Please contact Kids’ Village if your child will be absent from an enrichment class.



COOKING WITH MS. SHINWHA (liability waiver must be signed to take this class)
This cooking class is deliciously good for those who love to create with food! Students get the chance to learn about delicious and healthy ways to prepare and experiment with flavors, colors, and textures in a fun and relaxing setting.

This class is good for kids who just can’t get enough creative time. Lisa shares her enthusiasm for the creative process and introduces many different media that combine to make a completed work of art.

(NEW!) CREATIVE WRITING WORKSHOP WITH BRI (in memory of Carey Kozuszek) Come sample different writing styles and techniques through fantastically crafted exercises, allowing students to explore different options of writing genres and subjects, such as poetry; comics and graphic stories; adventure and mystery writing; creating alien worlds; The class is designed to both illuminate new and different styles, as well as help students improve the writing style they already enjoy. Our class will conclude by “publishing” a compilation of writing pieces from each of the students, into one brilliant book! This class is being offered for free through donations given towards Carey Kozuszek’s memorial fund.

JIU-JITSU WITH ALAN JOYCE OF RALPH GRACIE JIU-JITSU (liability waiver must be signed to take this class)
Jiu-Jitsu, an ancient martial art, is an efficient and practical self-defense system. Taught by Alan Joyce, a Rosa Parks parent and a black belt jiu-jitsu teacher at Ralph Gracie Jiu-Jitsu in Berkeley, the class is geared toward development of ground fighting skills using techniques of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. In this class, you’ll have fun, get in shape, build discipline & self-respect, all in a safe, friendly environment. Students will warm up then work on technique. Students will be paired with other students of the same size/age/grade. No experience necessary. All levels welcome. Gis will be provided for the duration of the class.

K-5th Mondays 4:30-5:30pm: 04/15 - 06/10 (NO CLASS ON 05/20 and 05/27)

BASKETBALL WITH NITZAN YEROVAM (liability waiver must be signed to take this class)
Designed to get children involved in a variety of physical activities, this basketball class teaches the fundamentals of basketball through simple drills, fun games, and developing fine motor, gross motor, and ball handling skills. The class is also designed to introduce and improve confidence, respect and the concept of teamwork in a non-competitive.

K-2nd Mondays 4:15-5:15pm: 04/15 - 06/10 (NO CLASS ON 05/20 and 05/27)

HIP-HOP DANCE WITH JESSICA WOLF (liability waiver must be signed to take this class) Come move your body and learn hip-hop dance with Jessica Wolf. In this 8-week session, each participant will develop their body in motion through mindfulness movement practices, warm-up exercises, universal steps, developmental tools, hip-hop dance technique, phrase work, and choreography. Can’t wait to dance with you!

K-2nd Tuesdays 3:45-4:30pm: 04/16 - 06/04

SOCCER2GETHER WITH NITZAN YEROVAM (liability waiver must be signed to take this class)
Soccer2gether has a vision to bring people together and create community through the great game of soccer. We are eager to develop soccer skills as well as life skills through exercises and games that engage our players in a variety of physical activities. Our program is focused on instilling basic motor skills, soccer fundamentals, self-confidence, and the virtues of teamwork and cooperation in a relaxed, unhurried and personal environment.

YOGA WITH PAPA DAH (liability waiver must be signed to take this class)
Children will learn long slow stretching, meditation, deep relaxation, along with lectures on health, nutrition and the power of positive thinking. Dah is a certified yoga instructor.

Sarah’s Science has BRAND NEW projects, so newcomers and returners are both welcome. In these exciting hands-on science classes, we will build a variety of toys and use them to demonstrate major scientific concepts such as energy, electricity, light, gravity, motion, friction, magnetism and simple machines. Each student will construct and take home a science toy in every class.

COMPUTER CODING WITH w/ VB of KidzToPros (all levels welcome.)
KidzToPros coding programs not only teach coding but also fosters creativity, reasoning and problem-solving. Kids look forward to their next class and are seen getting innovative and creative. Scratch Programming(8+ years) Scratch Programming Class for Kids They will learn it in a fun way by making animations, dialogues, games, simulations etc. Completion of this program gives a very good foundation to start with other Programming languages.
