Rosa Parks is an Environmental Science Magnet school in the Berkeley Unified School District in Berkeley, California. Equipped with a science lab, educational garden, and dedicated, professional and talented faculty and staff, students at Rosa Parks benefit from a curriculum enriched with access to science and nature.

School-Wide Before School Enrichment is NOT apart of Kids’ Village.

Fall 2019 School-Wide Enrichment Classes

Forms are due: Wednesday, September 25th by 6:00 pm in the Main Office or the Kids’ Village Office

 Getting to Class

If your child is enrolled in Kids' Village the day of enrichment class:

  • They will be picked up from their KV group and sent to their enrichment class.

  • They will go back to their group after class.

If your child is NOT in Kids' Village and you need Kids' Village to take your child to their Enrichment class:

  • Please note on the registration form if KV pick-up is needed. 

  • An additional $40/class for classes starting 30 mins or more after dismissal. 

  • Your child will be picked up after school and signed into Kids’ Village.

  • They will participate in KV until their enrichment class starts.

  • You must pick up your child from their enrichment class by the end of the class and sign your child out of the KV binder. 

  • If KV is needed after the enrichment class please contact Jessica Baird as an additional fee will apply.

If you do not need Kids' Village to take your child to their Enrichment class:

  • Please bring your child directly to their enrichment class. 

  • You must pick up your child from their enrichment class at the end of the class.

  • A late fee of $1 per minute per child will apply.

Monday Class Dates: 10/07, 10/21, 10/28, 11/18, 12/02, 12/09, & 12/16   

NO CLASSES ON: 10/14, 11/04, 11/11, & 11/25

COOKING/ CLASE DE COCINA w/ Ms. ShinWha (Cost $190): This cooking class is deliciously good for those who love to create with food! Students get the chance to learn about delicious and healthy ways to prepare and experiment with flavors, colors, and textures in a fun and relaxing setting.

  • 1st-2nd Grade 4:45pm-5:45 pm

BASKETBALL/ BASQUETBOL w/ Nitzan Yerovam (Cost $150): Designed to get children involved in a variety of physical activities, this basketball class teaches the fundamentals of basketball through simple drills, fun games, and developing fine motor, gross motor, and ball-handling skills. The class is also designed to introduce and improve confidence, respect and the concept of teamwork in a non-competitive environment.

JIU-JITSU w/ Alan Joyce of Ralph Gracie Jiu-Jitsu (Cost $180): Jiu-Jitsu, an ancient martial art, is an efficient and practical self-defense system. Taught by Alan Joyce, a Rosa Parks parent and a black belt jiu-jitsu teacher at Ralph Gracie Jiu-Jitsu in Berkeley, the class is geared toward the development of ground fighting skills using techniques of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. In this class, you’ll have fun, get in shape, build discipline & self-respect, all in a safe, friendly environment. Students will warm up then work on techniques. Students will be paired with other students of the same size/age/grade. No experience is necessary. All levels welcome. Gis will be provided for the duration of the class.

TOYOLOGY/ INGENIERIA w/ Sarah’s Science (Cost $200): Sarah’s Science has BRAND NEW projects, so newcomers and returners are both welcome. In these exciting hands-on science classes, we will build a variety of toys and use them to demonstrate major scientific concepts such as energy, electricity, light, gravity, motion, friction, magnetism and simple machines. Each student will construct and take home a science toy in every class.

  • TK-3rd Grade 3:30pm-4:30pm

Yoga w/ Barbara (Cost $100): Children will learn long slow stretching, meditation, deep relaxation, along with the power of positive thinking. Barbara is a certified yoga instructor.

Wednesdays/Miercoles

Wednesday Class Dates: 10/09, 10/16, 10/23, 10/30, 11/06, 11/13, 11/20, & 12/04

ART/ ARTE w/ Lisa (Cost $160): This class is good for kids who just can’t get enough creative time. Lisa shares her enthusiasm for the creative process & introduces many different mediums to combine to make works of art.

  • 4th-5th Grade 4:45pm-5:45pm

HIP-HOP DANCE/ BAILE HIP-HOP w/ Jessica Wolf (Cost $150): Come move your body and learn hip-hop dance moves. Each participant will develop their body in motion through mindfulness movement practices, warm-up exercises, universal steps, developmental tools, phrase work, and choreography. Can’t wait to dance with you!

Thursdays/Jueves

Thursday Class Dates: 10/10, 10/17, 10/24, 10/31, 11/07, 11/14, 11/21, & 12/05

SOCCER2GETHER/FUTBOL w/ Nitzan Yerovam (Cost $150): Soccer2gether has the vision to bring people together and create community through the great game of soccer. Our class is focused on instilling basic motor skills, soccer fundamentals, self-confidence, and the virtues of teamwork and cooperation in a relaxed, unhurried environment.

CODING/ PROGRAMACIÓN DE COMPUTADORAS -all levels welcomed (Cost $200): KidzToPros coding programs not only teach coding but also foster creativity, reasoning and problem-solving. Kids look forward to their next class and are seen getting innovative and creative. Kids will learn Scratch Programming in a fun way by making animations, dialogues, games, simulations etc. Completion of this program gives a very good foundation to start with other programming languages.
